Written by Mark Renfrew

Some projects (Screencastify, Stop Motion Animation) would be much easier to do if your camera is not attached to the top of the screen. Webcams are easy to use on a Chromebook. Here’s how:

  1. Plug in your webcam.
  2. Click on Settings
    1. Scroll to the bottom and click to “Show advanced settings”
  3. Under the “Privacy” heading click on the “Content settings…” button.
  4. Scroll down to camera.
  5. On the drop down menu, the built in Chromebook camera likely be named “HD WebCam” Depending on the WebCam you plugged in you will see it’s name (Mine comes up as UVC Camera).
  6. Click on “Done”
  7. Your camera should be ready to use.
